The REAL Reason Some TikTok Videos Go Viral (And Sell)

Most people think success on TikTok Shop or TikTok Affiliate comes down to a few basic things:

• Likes

• Comments

• Shares

And don’t get me wrong — those things absolutely matter.

But recently, I was watching a video from Alex Hormozi where he was breaking down TikTok Shop…

And he said something that completely changed how I’m looking at content right now.

He said the real metric you should be optimizing for is:

Saves.

Not likes. Not comments. Not even shares.

Saves.

Why Saves Matter So Much

The more I thought about it, the more it made total sense.

Because a save is a completely different level of intent compared to every other interaction.

When someone likes your video, what they’re really saying is:

“That was cool.”

When someone comments, they’re saying:

“That made me react.”

But when someone saves your video…

They’re saying:

“I need this later.”

That’s a completely different mindset.

That’s not passive engagement — that’s future intent.

It’s someone mentally bookmarking your video because they see real value in it.

And from an eCommerce perspective, that’s one of the strongest buying signals you can get.

Because they’re not just entertained.

They’re interested.

Why the TikTok Algorithm Loves Saves

Now here’s where it gets really powerful…

The TikTok algorithm loves this.

When someone saves your video, TikTok interprets that as:

“This is valuable content. People want to come back to this. Push this to more people.”

And that creates a chain reaction:

More saves → more distribution → more reach → more views → more clicks → more sales

So instead of chasing vanity metrics, you’re feeding the algorithm the one thing it cares about most:

Value.

How to Get More Saves on Your Videos

Which brings up the real question:

How do you actually get more saves?

Here’s the truth:

People don’t save ads.

Nobody is saving a video that says:

• “This product is amazing.”

• “Buy this now.”

• “Limited-time offer.”

That’s not save-worthy content.

People save things that feel useful.

They save things that solve problems.

They save things they know they’ll probably need later.

What Save-Worthy Content Looks Like

If you want more saves, your content should feel like one of these:

• Something that solves a specific problem

• Something they can come back to later

• Something that feels like a shortcut or hack

• Something that helps them avoid frustration in the future

That’s the type of content people save.

The Framing Shift That Changes Everything

Instead of saying:

“This product is amazing…”

Shift your framing.

Say something like:

“If your clothes always end up looking like this… save this because this fixes it in seconds.”

Now you’re not just showing a product.

You’re creating a moment where someone thinks:

“Wait… I actually need that.”

And more importantly:

“I might need this later.”

That’s what triggers the save.

How This Changes Your Content Strategy

Once you start thinking this way, it changes everything about how you script your videos.

Your hook becomes more problem-focused.

Your content becomes more practical.

And your call to action isn’t just:

“Buy this…”

It becomes:

“Save this so you don’t forget.”

That one shift alone can massively increase how far your videos get pushed.

What I’m Seeing From Testing This

I’ve actually started testing this myself over the past week.

I’ve been much more intentional about creating save-worthy content instead of just scroll-stopping content.

And even anecdotally, it’s already making a noticeable difference.

I’m seeing:

• Better reach

• Better engagement

• Stronger overall performance

Now, I don’t want to jump to conclusions too early.

I’m going to keep testing this with more volume over the next few weeks and report back with real data once I have it.

But if you’re posting TikTok Shop content right now…

This is absolutely something I would start implementing immediately.

Final Thoughts

Start asking yourself this question:

“How do I make this video something someone would want to come back to later?”

Because if you can crack that…

You’re not just making content people watch.

You’re making content the algorithm wants to push.

And that’s where the real growth — and the real sales — start happening.

I teach all of this in much more depth inside my TikTok Affiliate Jumpstart course.

I’ll include a 50% off discount link below as a thank you for reading all the way to the end.

Hope that helps — and I’ll see you in the next one.
