How I Outsource My Business & Buy Back My Time with Fiverr

If you’ve followed me for any amount of time, you probably know that I’m a huge believer in outsourcing certain parts of your business.

And one of the platforms I’ve personally used more than almost any other is Fiverr.

I’ve been using Fiverr for the better part of a decade.

Over that time, I’ve ordered hundreds of gigs, spent tens of thousands of dollars hiring freelancers, and outsourced all kinds of different tasks across my businesses.

I’ve hired people for:

  • YouTube thumbnails

  • Video editing

  • Course tutorials

  • TikTok videos

  • Amazon product videos

  • Virtual assistant work

  • Kindle book formatting and covers

  • Voiceovers

  • UGC content

  • Short-form content

  • And much more

At this point, pretty much anytime there’s something in my business that I either don’t know how to do, don’t want to do, or simply don’t have time to do, one of the first places I look is Fiverr.

And there are a few reasons I’ve continued using it for so many years.

Fiverr Makes Finding Specialized Freelancers Easy

The first reason is simply convenience.

Whatever you need done, you can search for it and immediately start browsing freelancers who specialize in that exact task.

You don’t have to hire a general employee and try to fit them into the role you need.

Need a video editor? Search for one.

Need someone to create YouTube thumbnails? Search for that.

Need someone who understands TikTok Shop? There are freelancers specifically offering TikTok Shop services.

You can look through reviews, previous work, pricing, packages, delivery times, and other details before deciding who to hire.

That makes it incredibly easy to find people who already specialize in the exact problem you’re trying to solve.

My Strategy for Finding Affordable Freelancers

My strategy with Fiverr has always been pretty simple.

If I have a task that I know I’m going to need done repeatedly, I’ll usually test several different freelancers.

One thing I often do is filter by budget and start with some of the less expensive gigs.

You’re probably not going to find the perfect freelancer every single time.

I like to describe it as having to:

“Kiss a lot of frogs to find your prince.”

But that’s also how I’ve found some incredibly talented people at surprisingly affordable prices.

A lot of newer freelancers are trying to build their profiles and get reviews.

Because of that, they may offer their services at lower prices while putting significant effort into the work.

They benefit because they get another completed gig and potentially a positive review.

I benefit because I get the work completed at an affordable price.

For example, if I test 10 people at $5 each, I’ve spent $50 testing 10 different freelancers instead of immediately spending $50 on one person.

Some of them might not be a good fit.

But if I find one or two people who do excellent work at an affordable price, that relationship can potentially benefit my business for years.

Once I Find Someone Good, I Keep Hiring Them

Once I find a freelancer who:

  • Does great work

  • Delivers on time

  • Communicates well

  • Understands feedback

  • Fits my business and workflow

…I continue working with them.

That’s how I’ve found some of the people who have helped me repeatedly across my businesses.

I’m not constantly trying to find a new video editor or freelancer for every project.

Once someone proves they can reliably handle a task, I want to keep that relationship going.

That’s when outsourcing becomes especially powerful.

You’re no longer simply paying someone to complete one task.

You’re building a system that takes that responsibility off your plate entirely.

Fiverr Can Be Much Faster Than Traditional Hiring

Another thing I like about Fiverr is speed.

Think about the traditional hiring process.

You might have to:

  1. Post a job

  2. Wait for applications

  3. Review candidates

  4. Conduct interviews

  5. Negotiate compensation

  6. Hire someone

  7. Train them

  8. Hope you made the right decision

For certain roles, that process obviously makes sense.

But if I simply need someone to edit a video, create a graphic, make a thumbnail, or perform another specialized task, I don’t necessarily need to go through all of that.

I can find someone who already offers that exact service, place an order, give them the requirements, and get the finished work back.

That can save an enormous amount of time.

Access Talent From Around the World

Another major reason I use Fiverr is the amount of talent available from all over the world.

There are incredibly talented freelancers who can do amazing work at prices that may be significantly lower than what you’re used to paying.

And if you run an online business—or simply have a life outside of your business—you probably don’t have time to sit there working 24 hours a day.

Outsourcing gives you leverage.

You can pay someone else to handle a task they may actually be better at than you are while you focus on the parts of the business where your time is most valuable.

A Real-World Example: Getting Help With TikTok Shop

Here’s a perfect example.

One question I get asked constantly is about TikTok Shop.

People ask:

  • “How do I start a TikTok Shop?”

  • “How do I get approved?”

  • “How do I set everything up?”

  • “How do I find products?”

  • “What suppliers should I use?”

  • “How do I fulfill orders?”

And that’s just the beginning.

If you’ve never used TikTok Shop before, getting everything set up and understanding how the platform works can feel overwhelming.

So I went onto Fiverr and searched for freelancers who specifically help people with TikTok Shop.

There were thousands of results.

I found one freelancer who offered TikTok Shop services and booked a consulting session with him.

I wanted to see firsthand how knowledgeable someone offering these services could actually be.

And I was impressed.

He understood the platform, account setup, product research, suppliers, logistics, different strategies, and many of the nuances involved in operating a TikTok Shop.

That’s a perfect example of what makes Fiverr so useful.

You have a specific problem.

Instead of spending days or weeks trying to figure everything out yourself, you can potentially hire someone who already specializes in solving that exact problem.

TikTok Shop Is Just One Example

The important thing is that TikTok Shop is only one example.

Think about all the tasks involved in running an online business.

Maybe you need someone to:

  • Edit videos

  • Design thumbnails

  • Turn long-form videos into Shorts

  • Work as a virtual assistant

  • Fulfill orders

  • List products

  • Handle customer service

  • Design graphics

  • Create Etsy designs

  • Manage Shopify

  • Help with Amazon

  • Create content

Whatever bottleneck you’re currently struggling with, there’s a good chance someone specializes in solving it.

And that’s exactly how I’ve used Fiverr for years.

The Real Value of Outsourcing Is Leverage

For me, the real value isn’t simply getting tasks completed more cheaply.

It’s leverage.

You only have so many hours in a day.

If you spend those hours editing videos, creating thumbnails, fulfilling orders, answering repetitive customer service questions, and handling every other small task yourself, eventually you hit a ceiling.

There’s only so much one person can do.

But when you start outsourcing tasks, you effectively begin buying back your time.

That lets you focus on the activities that actually move your business forward.

Maybe that’s creating content.

Maybe it’s finding new products.

Maybe it’s developing partnerships.

Maybe it’s creating new offers.

Maybe it’s simply making the higher-level decisions that someone else can’t make for you.

That’s the bigger point.

You Don’t Have to Do Everything Yourself

This was a lesson I had to learn myself.

Before I really started outsourcing, I was burned out.

I was stressed constantly.

I was working in my business every day instead of working on it.

It felt like I was constantly spinning my wheels and putting out fires.

Eventually, I realized something:

I didn’t have to do everything myself.

And neither do you.

There are probably tasks you’re currently doing that someone else could do faster, better, or more efficiently.

Every one of those tasks represents an opportunity to buy back some of your time.

How I Would Start Outsourcing Today

If you’ve never outsourced before, I wouldn’t immediately hand your entire business to somebody else.

Start small.

Pick one repetitive task that takes time away from more important work.

Then:

  1. Search for freelancers who specialize in it.

  2. Test several people.

  3. Give them the same or similar assignments.

  4. Compare the results.

  5. Pay attention to quality, communication, turnaround time, and reliability.

  6. Keep working with the people who perform well.

Then move on to the next task.

Over time, you can slowly build a network of people who handle different parts of your operation.

That’s essentially what I’ve done.

And eventually, individual freelancers start becoming part of larger systems within your business.

Don’t Just Outsource — Build Systems

This is another distinction I think is important.

Outsourcing one random task can save you some time.

But systemizing a repetitive task and then outsourcing it can permanently change how your business operates.

Instead of repeatedly explaining what you want, create a process.

Document the steps.

Create examples.

Set quality standards.

Make expectations clear.

Then train the right person to own that process.

That’s when you really start buying back your time.

You’re no longer simply hiring help.

You’re building infrastructure around your business.

Final Thoughts

Outsourcing is one of the biggest things I’ve done to scale my online businesses.

I simply couldn’t do even a fraction of what I do today without freelancers and virtual assistants helping behind the scenes.

They help me:

  • Produce more content consistently

  • Manage customer service

  • Fulfill orders

  • Handle logistics

  • Support different stores and businesses

  • Take countless repetitive tasks off my plate

And that allows me to spend more of my time on the things that actually grow the business.

So whether you need help with TikTok Shop, video editing, thumbnails, virtual assistance, eCommerce, graphic design, or something completely different, ask yourself:

Is continuing to do this myself really the best use of my time?

You may have to test a few people before finding the right fit.

You may have to “kiss a few frogs.”

But once you find those great freelancers, they can become an incredibly valuable part of your business for years.

The goal isn’t necessarily to work more.

It’s to build enough leverage that your business can accomplish more without requiring more of your personal time.

And for me, outsourcing has been one of the most effective ways to make that happen.
